16mo (17 cm), 382 pages. Original pale cream cloth, gilt decorative floral border to front board enclosing a mounted color illustration (minor shelf-wear). A richly illustrated reference catalogue of 333 of the rarest and most sought-after Russian books of the twentieth century, continuing a tradition of Russian rarity catalogues begun in the late nineteenth century by such bibliographers as G.N. Gennadi, I.M. Ostroglazov, and N.B. Berezin. Each entry is accompanied, where relevant, by a record of prices realized at Western and Russian auctions and brief critical commentary. Published under the imprint of the Russian State Library (Pashkov Dom), the volume is aimed equally at collectors, booksellers, and scholars of the history of the Russian book and stands as a major modern reference work for the field.…
