One's life is not defined by a single static moment. Certain events provide for great change, insight, and wisdom IF an individual has the courage to step into the unknown and trust the journey. 'Russell Box Senior, The Physical And Spiritual Journey Of A Southern Ute Elder,' is a compelling life story that presents rare gifts of insight and wisdom everyone can relate to. Russell Box Senior's life began in a loving grandmother's home. Experiencing the pain of childhood separation from going to boarding school, a realization of living in poverty, using alcohol to ease his pain, his military service, his changing Ute Reservation, and following his dream to attend art school and paint while navigating his way through unaccepting white culture took its toll on the young man. Christianity led him to a clean and sober life. It also brought Russell Box Senior back to his roots, native language and sacred Ute ways. Ways, though Ute in tradition, are full of universal wisdom that connects us as human beings.
