Ruby is a loveable staffy with the biggest heart and the biggest fear: storms. When dark clouds gather and lightning splits the sky, she must find her human, Axel, and somehow show him just how frightened she really is. Will Axel understand? Will he hold her close — or will Ruby have to weather the storm alone?
For many children, fear lives in the quiet spaces grown-ups don't always see. A rumble of thunder, a flicker of lightning, a worry that nobody truly understands. When those big feelings have no words, they grow. This warm, colorful journey through fear, doubt, hope, and comfort gives children the language and the permission to say: I'm scared, and I need you.
By the last page, your child won't just feel seen — they'll have the words to talk about their own fears and phobias, and you'll have an open door to one of the most important conversations a caregiver and child can ever share.
- Feel the relief of being truly understood — Ruby's story mirrors what anxious children struggle to say out loud
- Spark real conversations about phobias and big emotions, gently guided by Ruby's charismatic, relatable journey
- Reconnect on stormy nights — vivid illustrations make every read-through feel warm, cozy, and safe
- Build emotional confidence in kids who find it hard to name their feelings, from storm anxiety to everyday worries
- A picture book families return to again and again, because the comfort it brings never grows old.
If you're looking for an emotional support picture book that teaches kids about emotions without ever feeling like a lesson, Ruby and the Stormy Day is the story your shelf has been waiting for. Perfect for parents, caregivers, and educators seeking books to calm anxious children and open gentle, meaningful conversations.
Grab your copy today and let Ruby show your little one they never have to face the storm alone.
