Pale blue cloth boards with school badge printed to front, minor rubbing to edges, damage to bottom of spine, minor soiling, minor patchy fading, spine faded. Contents generally clean and tight but for minor soiling. Prize label inside front cover. B&W photo plates and small drawings throughout. A journey round the world starting in Sydney, Australia in 1930. The author travelled with his friend Dick Matthews in their Austin Seven car, Emily. Hector MacQuarrie was a Scotsman who was well known as a travel writer. Prior to this expedition, in 1929 he undertook the first automobile excursion to the northernmost point of Australia, the Cape York Peninsular, also in an Austin Seven - this adventure was detailed in the book 'We and the Baby'.
