Paperback. Lucy Watson has never been fond of following the rules - so when a talking rook invites her to follow him into the dark forest, a place she has always been forbidden to go, Lucy can't help but follow. She follows him into the heart of the forest where she finds an unlikely community of animals living amongst the rooks. But things are not as peaceful as they seem in the forest. The forest creatures are facing a new and terrible threat, and the animals' way of life in the Rookery is in danger of disappearing forever.Lucy's home life is dominated by two unruly brothers, a no-nonsense nanny and a gardener who seems to know too much. It will take all of Lucy's cunning to balance her secret life in the forest with her life at home. Will Lucy be able to find her place in the Rookery? Will she be able to help the forest animals escape the vicious hawks who want to tear the community apart, or will she be forced to stay home as her friends suffer their fate alone?
