Item description from seller

x 207 pages, indexed, annotated, black and white photos, maps. Afterword by Klaus Naumann, Foreword by Wesley K. Clark. A title in The World Generals Series. The pages are tanned, else a pristine copy which appears unread. "A hero to the German people of the Third Reich and widely respected by his opponents, Rommel proved himself highly adept at Blitzkrieg warfare. Both in France and North Africa he consistently outwitted his opponents through his ability to sense the weak spot in his enemy's deployment and the pace at which he conducted his operations. Rommel was a master of the "cut and thrust" of desert warfare, especially in his talent to quickly seize the initiative. Rommel's serious wounding in France came just three days before the aborted attempt on Hitler's life. In the witch hunt that followed Rommel came under suspicion of being involved on the plot. In the end he was given the difficult choice of committing suicide or of being put on trial and thus endangering the lives of his beloved wife and son. He took the honourable way out and, with a cynicism that characterized the Nazi regime, was given a state funeral." (Publisher).…

Store description

Good Reading was established in 1991. In early 2013, I downsized from a shop which spanned a block and two stories to a largish house which resembles a rabbit warren. There are at approximately 40,000 titles, including over 10,000 books in Italian, French, German, Modern Greek, Latin and classical Greek., most of which have not yet been catalogued. I also have a very large Theology section, and a substantial cookery and Australian History one. Please contact me if there is a specific title you are chasing as it may be languishing on the shelf uncatalogued. All enquiries will be answered promptly, books will be mailed out swaddled like Russian babies, and all faults honestly described. I do a full refund for any book sporting nasty surprises.…
