Basil Kennett?s Romae antiquae notitia is an English language examination of ancient Roman institutions, customs, and public life, first composed in the late seventeenth century and reissued frequently during the eighteenth century. The work is organized thematically and addresses Roman government, the Senate, religion, mythology, military organization, public entertainments, and architecture. This 1737 London printing includes eleven engraved folding plates illustrating ceremonial and architectural subjects, including a scene of naval battles staged within the Colosseum. Very Good, leather bound with a tight and secure text block, some separation at the front hinge though still attached, gilt arms present on the covers, internally complete with all plates.
