When a breathless hiker arrives at the Adirondacks Interior Outpost and informs Stacy, the first woman to be named crew chief in the Adirondacks, that someone has fallen from the cliffs above Avalanche Lake, Wayne, a newly recruited forester from Montana, uncovers evidence that a murder has recently taken place. With police far from the scene, the Department of Environmental Conservation's resources are stretched thin as a manhunt takes place amidst news of a bank robbery connected to the murder. The foresters and police scramble to keep the criminals from escaping detection in the mountains while frantically working to keep hikers and campers out of harm's way. As the foresters endeavor to put their competitive natures aside and learn to work together, the flurry of press coverage strains relationships, and personalities and motivations collide in the community and among their own ranks. Through it all, despite professional upheavals, the undeniable attraction between Stacy and Wayne continues to grow. This item is printed on demand. Eric Crook comes from a family of authors and artists where creativity and self-expression are ingrained values. His development as a writer was built on coursework in creative writing, poetry, technical writing, and various forms of literature taken while completing a bachelor's in forest management and a master's in city and regional planning. The common theme in his approach to writing is verisimilitude-a story that sounds like the truth is compelling to read and a joy to write.
Eric has years of professional experience in technical writing, including numerous strategic planning studies and the concept plan for the Second Avenue subway for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. He has also published a book of prose and poetry, Greatest Hits (Stillwater Press) and his work has appeared in numerous anthologies.
Eric is also a significant supporter of his local community as a member of the City of East Providence planning board and the board of directors for the Association of Rhode Island Authors. He is recently remarried and has two grown children.
