THE ROAD IS YOUR OYSTER is the first comprehensive operator's manual for the exotic and luxury car rental industry, written by the only person in the United States with two decades of bicoastal operating experience and ownership of the surrounding business ecosystem.
Long Book Description
Most people who try to open an exotic car rental company fail in the first 24 months. They fail predictably, for the same reasons, year after year. This book is about how to be the operator who does not fail. THE ROAD IS YOUR OYSTER is the first comprehensive operator's manual for the exotic and luxury car rental industry, written by the only person in the United States with two decades of bicoastal operating experience and ownership of the surrounding business ecosystem. Across 20 years and more than 1,000 cars, Eric Blumberg has lived through the entire spectrum of this industry. He has rented Lamborghinis and Rolls-Royces to Saudi royalty in Bel Air mansions, billionaires in Pelican Hill, Fortune 500 executives at private aviation FBOs in Miami, A-list country music stars in Las Vegas, and bucket-list weekend warriors who became lifelong customers. He has chased a stolen Ferrari from Los Angeles to a shipping container that loaded at the Port of Long Beach, tracked it across the Pacific, and recovered it when customs intercepted the container at the Port of Hong Kong four months later. He has sued celebrities who breached contracts and turned $12,000 damage events into $90,000 recoveries. He has walked through the doors of the most exclusive estates in Los Angeles and Miami because of the cars he rented to the people inside. He has also built the largest exotic car rental ecosystem in the United States: TRIYO Insurance, The Car Rental Lawyers, CarRental.ai, Car Rental Roadside Services, Car Rental School, and a dozen more companies that exist because the industry needed them and no one else was building them. The operational disciplines, the legal protocols, the insurance frameworks, the marketing strategies, the recovery playbooks, the scaling decisions, and the stories that taught Eric every lesson the hard way, are all in these pages. The road is in front of you. The cars are the doorway. What you build on the other side is up to you.
