Captain David "Klondike" Marshall thought his undercover mission would be simple-blend in, smile for the cameras, and quietly monitor the dignitaries. But when multiple versions of himself crash the reception thanks to a rogue ripple-bomb, the celebration explodes into chaos.
Enter the Rift Rangers-an interdimensional task force of misfits, mercenaries, and mechanicals charged with keeping reality from unravelling. Drafted (again) into duty by the mysterious Interdimensional Peace Corps, David must rally a crew who barely tolerate one another to chase a gang of time-smugglers known as Pattern Pirates through fractured timelines. Their goal? To rewrite history, one paradox at a time.
There's Jojo Jett, the fast-talking Terran cadet who accidentally triggers the disaster and now won't stop trying to prove herself; Mal Zor, a towering reptilian strategist whose patience is measured in millimeters; Sarra Vex, a Virellian assassin who believes teamwork is a punishment; UNIT 9, a quote-mangling mech with delusions of cinematic heroism; and Zilch, a slippery engineer with more saliva than sense and a hopeless crush on the wrong teammate.
Together, they must repair the temporal breach before the galaxy folds in on itself-and before David comes face-to-face with the shocking truth: the enigmatic Pirate Captain leading the chaos is a version of someone he once loved.
Adventure. Humor. Heart. And a healthy disregard for causality.
Set in a vast, sarcastic universe of paradoxes and popcorn logic, Rift Rangers blends the wit of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy with the cinematic pulse of Guardians of the Galaxy. Expect sharp dialogue, emotional undercurrents, and cosmic absurdity-all orbiting a hero who never quite asked to save reality (again).
Inside the Rift, time is relative. Friendship isn't.
From DMK Books, creator of Paper Planes & Falling Stars, comes the first entry in a new sci-fi adventure saga that connects the emotional depth of David Marshall's past with the explosive future that awaits him among the stars.
If you love:
Snappy, character-driven banter
Found-family chaos with real heart
Retro-future tech, temporal shenanigans, and impossible odds
Then join Captain Klondike and his reluctant crew as they stumble, fight, and occasionally flirt their way across the multiverse-because somewhere out there, the universe needs saving... again.
David Krulicki is a writer drawn to stories that shape us-both real and imagined. His work blends personal experience with storytelling, whether exploring the mysteries of the unknown, the complexities of family, or the art of archery coaching.
His latest book, Paper Planes & Falling Stars, is a fact-based fiction novel inspired by real events-a coming-of-age story woven with love, loss, and unexplained encounters.
Beyond fiction, David has a passion for mentoring young athletes and helping them succeed. His archery coaching guide provides practical, hands-on advice for developing skill, focus, and confidence in young archers.
When not writing, he can be found watching UFO documentaries, studying archery techniques, 3D Printing and Painting or questioning what lies beyond the stars.
