With My Rifle by My Side is a story written for young children to encourage an appreciation and respect for appropriate firearm use. It is a charming children's story written in verse that reclaims American values through the perspective of a young boy. The boy enjoys sharing in the experience of hunting with his Dad and sister. He also learns about gun safety as he learns how to shoot his own rifle. After taking part in their outdoor activities, the boy's family learns about our nation's history as they visit American monuments. The boy begins to understand the solemn necessity of firearms as they pertain to America's foundation and the preservation of our liberty. He hears stories that inspire the boy to do his part to preserve American freedom, to protect his family, and to carry on the legacy of the nation's founders. With My Rifle by My Side is a book with colorful illustrations and a delightful story that renews the spirit of American liberty and honor.

Review
Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America"
With My Rifle by My Side is a beautiful book. The words and illustrations combine to make a strong impact. This is the message children need to get, and adults, too.
Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America
This beautifully illustrated hardback book is subtitled "A Second Amendment Lesson." The publisher states that this is the inaugural book in a new series. I am hopeful that other Constitutional rights will be discussed in upcoming books. This one deals with the right to bear arms; it covers gun safety and the reason our forefathers wrote this right into the Constitution. The book is for young children and very clearly states the information in a way that is interesting and informative to children. Amazon says the book is for ages 9-12, although I thought it might be for a slightly younger audience. This book contains 46 glossy pages. In the back of the book there is information for parents to help teach about our Constitution and about gun safety. Links are also provided to information on these subjects by Gun Owners of America, The National Rifle Association, and the Boy Scouts of America. I loved this book and hope there are more in the offing. I believe it is important to teach our young children about our freedoms, our great country, and our Constitution. I highly recommend this book as a resource for any homeschool social studies program.
