This was the fourth in a five book series. Rex is now at Walcott Hall, a prep school where he is the captain of the baseball nine. He reforms several loud and obnoxious characters and turns them into valuable contributors to the team. Has a nice color illustrated front cover of a batter at the plate. The frontispiece is intact, has a man trying to control a bucking horse in the middle of a group of baseball players. Tight copy in very good condition. I have more than 275 juvenile baseball fiction books in stock. Discounts are available when you purchase multiple items on the same order. Seller Inventory # ABE-1628103887493

Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. This G+ quality first format and likely first edition book was published in 1916 by Hurst and Company and is 7-7/8" tall with 321 numbered pages of text. This book--one-piece gray ribbed binding with black lettering--is square, somewhat clean, free of edge dings with both top and the lower front corners bumped; the head and heel of the spine are bumped with slight wear and color loss but no fraying; the bottom edges have very little wear. The spine is soiled and worn but the lettering is intact, though the illustration has lost virtually all of its red color. The front panel illustration in red, black and white is clean but has lost virtually all of its white paint. The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. Both hinges are strong and undamaged; text paper is only very slightly toned and is very flexible and not at all brittle. The frontis + 3 are present and intact. The only list in the book is on the title page and it lists only the first three titles of this series. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book.
