Item description from seller
The event of India’s freedom from the British rule in 1947 and Partition of the Indian subcontinent into India and Pakistan had a devastating impact upon the life of millions and it is still deep in our collective psyche. This volume is the result of a query — How do we look at Partition after 75 years of the event? History, migration, loss, trauma, the shared legacies, and a painful acceptance of the resilience spirit of a life full of memory and nostalgia form the core essence of retelling the Partition. This volume presents a kaleidoscope of the responses made by the creative authors from the three nations, namely, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, representing different generations, and expressed through different narrative media such as literature, cinema, memoir, art, etc. The chapters, written by the reputed academicians and scholars of the subcontinent, give us a critical and analytical understanding of the representation of the physical realities and the psychological impacts of Partition upon the people affected by it in a mode of revisiting the history of Partition through creative expression and critical exploration.…
