Print on Demand. In the first century A.D., when the Roman Empire reigned supreme, the Revelation of John emerged as a potent and symbolic text within the genre of apocalyptic literature. This book, like other writings of its kind, aimed to encourage and comfort persecuted Christian communities by offering hope and predicting divine retribution against their oppressors. The author, John, employs vivid imagery, allegorical figures, and symbolic numbers to convey a profound message of hope and endurance amid suffering. The Revelation of John is not a pseudonymous text like many other apocalyptic works, as the author boldly reveals his identity. It is a prophecy that includes praise, blame, warnings, encouragement, and calls to repentance, addressing actual conditions within the Christian communities of the time. The book's unique blend of Christian themes and prophetic spirit sets it apart from Jewish apocalypses, offering a message of unconquerable faith, hatred of evil, and unwavering hope. Drawing upon the language and imagery of the Old Testament and employing symbolic references to contemporary events, this book presents a cosmic battle between the forces of good and evil. It explores themes of judgment, redemption, and the ultimate triumph of God's kingdom over the forces of darkness. The Revelation of John has profoundly influenced Christian thought and imagery throughout history, providing a compelling vision of hope and cosmic struggle that continues to resonate with believers today. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Although this volume is the result of study extending over many years it makes no claim to exhaustiveness; indeed it is only an interpretation, and that merely in outline, of the book. An accurate interpretation of every word and phrase of the book along historical lines is impossible in the present state of our knowledge, 'but enough is known to enable us to understand it in a general way, and this general knowledge is of very great practical value.
For the reader's convenience, and because careful study show ed both the Authorized Version of 1611 and the Revised Ver sion. Of 1885 to be defective, it was found necessary to include a fresh translation of the book in this volume. A translation, as literal as possible, into clear, simple, modern English has been the aim. Although in many ways the book is a difficult one for the translator it is hoped some success has been obtained. The translation is inserted as Appendix I. In Appendix II will be found brief explanations of the very few technical terms and proper names used in the volume the explanation of which might be helpful to some readers.
If the succeeding pages prove to be a help to the intelligent comprehension of the book the writer of them Will rejoice that his labour has not been in vain.
