Print on Demand. This book is a collection of two sermons by Samuel Wilberforce, the Bishop of Oxford, preached in 1861. The sermons, based on John 12:37, examine the temptation to neglect God's revelation. Wilberforce argues that this neglect can manifest itself in different ways, including a general disregard for religion, a selective acceptance of its teachings, or an intellectual skepticism that undermines faith. He explores the causes of this neglect, such as worldly distractions, moral compromise, and intellectual pride. The author emphasizes that true faith requires the acceptance of revelation as a whole, rather than a selective or skeptical approach. Wilberforce concludes by warning of the dangers of persisting in doubt, both for the individual and for society as a whole. The book provides valuable insights into the nature of faith, the challenges it faces in the modern world, and the importance of remaining steadfast in one's beliefs. Through Wilberforce's powerful words, readers are encouraged to examine their own faith and strive to overcome the temptation to neglect God's revelation. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. …
