Bryan and his wife, and a person that lived in his housé' whose name was Noble, to go and drink tea with them; Mr's. Bryan and Mn Noble told my Brother Bryan that he ought to have had me with him, he then said, if he had need of me, the holy spirit would inform me thereof, and I should accordingly come, and so it really happened, for as I was sitting at home, the holy spirit said unto me, Thou must go to Bryan's, so I. Went directly, when I came there, they were coming out of the door. I immediately asked Brother Bryan what he wanted with me, [first Bryan and Mr. Noble began to smile, then my Brother Bryan related to'me' the circumstance before mentioned. On the 15th day of January, so called, 1 789, as I/was at work in the' shop, the power of the holy spirit came upon me' in such a manner as to deprive me of my usual natural strength and prevent me going on with my work. As. I stood still the spirit said to me, Thou must go to Avignon, but go immediately to Bryan, this was rather' an unseasonable hour to leave work, but well knowing the ooice,i hesitated not, but went.

Excerpt from A Revealed Knowledge of Some Things That Will Speedily Be Fulfilled in the World: Communicated to a Number of Christians, Brought Together at Avignon, by the Power of the Spirit of God, From All Nations In the month of April, so called, 1788, at which time I lived in Leeds, Yorkshire, the Holy Spirit told me, I must go to London, without mentioning the reason, or saying any thing more to me. I accordingly set off, and as I thought, to find out a sect of people that belong to the New Jerusalem Church, to which Salmon and Mother belonged, who came to Leeds as Preachers, who cried it up for some great and wonderful light, such as never appeared before, and of which Baron Swedenburg was the forerunner, as John the Baptist was of Christ. I was in the month of July, 1788, before I could effect this Journey, having a large family, and nothing to support them with, but what I laboured for. It was with great difficult that I could procure money to bear my experience to London, but having an opportunity of working over hours in summer, I saved a little every week.
