Dumas (Pen Yann, New York), 8 1/2 x 11 inches tall stapled paperbound in beige printed covers, copiously illustrated with period black-and-white photographs, [2], ii, 91 pp. Very slight rubbing and edgewear to covers. Slight creasing to tips. Ink notation to upper margin of copyright page. First page of text has a bit of ink underlining. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked - of this scarce local history. OCLC (No. 51020439) locates only seven copies at institutions worldwide - five in New York, one in Indiana and one at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. ~N~ A history of Yates County, a county located in the western part of the state of New York with a county seat of Penn Yan. On February 5, 1823, Yates County was formed from 310 square miles of Ontario County, including the area that included Vine Valley, Middlesex, Penn Yan, and Dresden, New York. The name is in honor of Joseph C. Yates, who as Governor of New York signed the act establishing the county.
