Item description from seller

With a four page Preface by the English translator (unnamed) from Tamworth, May 1st, 1813. The Preface has ink corrections and marks suggestive of the translator. An inscription on the endpaper reads "To Marie Josephine from her affectionate and grateful friend. Tamworth, May 15th 1813". Most remarkable of all is the state of preservation, made possible by the enclosure of the original drab boards within a plain paper protective wrapper, of some considerable age. There are ink notes concerning this military campaign on the rear endpaper from a Gazette of May, 1813. Tamworth is quite near to Lichfield in Staffordshire.
