He has received numerous awards related to media and literature, including, among many others, the City of Cartagena Historical Novel Award (2000) for La mandrágora de las doce lunas; the Jaén Award (2004) for El último tren a Zúrich; the CCEI Award (2005) for the same work; the Spirituality Award 2004 for El testamento del pescador; the City of Torrevieja Award for Los hijos de la luz; the Harold Kregel Award (2021) for Apóstol para las naciones; and the Mexican Journalists Club Award (2021) for the program La Voz. Dr. Vidal speaks sixteen languages and has translated various authors into Spanish, including the Russian Nobel Prize winner Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
