About the Author:

Patricia L. Scharer is a professor of education at The Ohio State University. Her research, which centers around teacher change, phonics/word study, and the use of children's literature in instruction, has been published in Reading Research Quarterly, Research in the Teaching of English, Language Arts, The Reading Teacher, Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, and Reading Research and Instruction.
