About the Author: Jay Folberg is Dean of the Law School at the University of San Francisco. He has served as president of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, chair of the Mediation and Arbitration Committee of the American Bar Association-Family Law Section, chair of the Oregon State Bar Family Law Section, chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Association of American Law Schools, and as a member of the National Accrediting Commission for Marriage and Family Therapy. He is the immediate past president of the Academy of Family Mediators. In addition to numerous other publications, he is co-author of "Mediation: A Comprehensive Guide to Resolving Conflicts without Litigation," and co-editor of "Divorce Mediation: Theory and Practice,"
