Paperback. What remains of God once the wish is subtracted? This book is neither a proof of God nor a refutation. It is an epistemic audit: a systematic examination of the hidden assumptions that shape classical questions about God - personal, local, intentional.Dr. Ekkehard Finkeissen introduces the Replacement Test: What still holds when 'God' is replaced by 'the ordering principle'? 9 of the 10 classic questions dissolve under this scrutiny. What remains is the question of origin - and with it, the limit of every ontology. The book draws clear distinctions between wish and reality, orthodoxy and orthopraxy, genesis and validity. It takes the longing for a personal, benevolent God seriously without confusing that longing with truth. At the same time, it shows that the movement from an anthropomorphic image of God toward a tested, impersonal ordering principle is not an attack on religion, but a line of maturation that has existed within the great traditions for centuries (apophatic theology, Tillich, Advaita Vedanta). Those who find comfort, prayer, or community in a personal image of God are not criticized here. What is criticized is only the use of God to render criticism impossible.A book for readers who neither want to believe dogmatically nor refute cheaply - but to examine. What remains of God once the wish is subtracted?
This book is neither a proof of God nor a refutation. It is an epistemic audit: a systematic examination of the hidden assumptions that shape classical questions about God - personal, local, intentional.
Dr.
What is criticized is only the use of God to render criticism impossible.
A book for readers who neither want to believe dogmatically nor refute cheaply - but to examine.
