About the Author
Dr. Steven Willey is a St. Louis, Missouri-based doctor best known for his innovative work on optimizing the human body's metabolic performance. He coined the termInsulin Efficiency, which describes a condition where the hormone insulin is optimized to provide the greatest effect at the lowest level. Dr. Willey is a published author an works to advance new methods of preventing and reversing chronic disease through lifestyle changes involving nutrition, sleep and physical activity.
Dr. Willey was born in Springfield, Illinois. After high school, he attended the University of Illinois andgraduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. After graduation, Dr. Willey attendedNorthwestern University Medical School and graduated in 1990 with AOA honors.
After completing medical school, Dr. Willey attended Stanford University to complete his medical internship and residency. While working closely with patients at Stanford, Dr. Willey began to formulate his methods for optimizing health through specific lifestyle modifications.
Upon completion of his residency in 1994, Dr. Willey opened his medical practice at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where he has practiced internal medicine for over twenty years. From 1995 until the present, Dr. Willey has acted as the Medical Director at Maryville University.
In 2004, Dr. Willey restructured his medical practice to become a private, concierge practice, focusing on extended personalized care for his patients. According to his recent book, it was during this time that Dr. Willey perfected a unified program of preventive medicine and lifestyle intervention techniques that enabled many of his patients to avoid or reverse chronic disease as well as to achieve their desired body weight.
In 2010, Dr. Willey founded Fitness Medicine, a web-based product that featured fitness and nutrition guidance for his own patients, and wrote a corresponding book,Fitness Medicine: A Comprehensive Guide to Achieve Good Health and Optimal Quality of Life.
In 2015, Dr. Willey is releasing a new book, Reprogram Your Life: Bioscience for a Healthier You, that describes his integrated method for achieving and maintaining overall health through coordinated improvements in exercise, sleep patterns and nutrition. In tandem, he produced a mobile and web product, also called YOU+, that provides user tools to simplify the implementation of the techniques advocated in theYOU+ book. According to the YOU+ website (youplus.com), Dr. Willey's method allows users to access a personalized fitness and health program integrating nutrition, sleep enhancements and precise physical activity to optimize Insulin Efficiency. The product is designed to help prevent or reverse the complex of conditions known as the metabolic syndrome while optimizing body weight.
Dr. Willey is a Board Certified Diplomate (BCD) of the American Board of Internal Medicine (1993present).

If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.

Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to ThriftBooks-Dallas, Dallas, Texas, U.S.A., without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
All domestic Standard and Expedited shipments are distributed from our warehouses by OSM, then handed off to the USPS for final delivery.
2-Day Shipping is delivered by FedEx, which does not deliver to PO boxes.
International shipments are tendered to the local postal service in the destination country for final delivery – we do not use courier services for international deliveries.
