Print on Demand. This book provides a firsthand account of the experiences of two American drivers serving on the French Western Front during the First World War, an often-overlooked aspect of the Great War. These drivers witnessed the realities of war, learning to appreciate the heavy responsibility of transporting the wounded while also encountering the deadly nature of combat. The collection of verse reflects the day-to-day experiences of the author and his comrades, from the humor and camaraderie of surviving in the trenches to the horrors of battle. Through their eyes, the reader is given an unvarnished glimpse into the everyday realities of the war, from the boredom and tedium of waiting to the sheer relief of escaping harm. Readers interested in the Great War, personal narratives of combat, or the unique experience of the ambulance driver in World War I will find this book an invaluable and poignant resource. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
