First and only edition, large 8vo, [2], 77, [1]pp., 14 lithograph plates, diagrams in the text, orig. blue printed wrappers, some light chipping. This significant and important work which explores how light affects watercolour pigments. The report highlighted the impact of continuous exposure to daylight on watercolours exhibited in museums, at the time The National Gallery in London faced controversy over keeping watercolours on display during the day, with some watercolours were practically ruined by prolonged exposure.
