Print on Demand. This book is an 1875 annual report to the State of New Jersey's Governor and Commander-in-Chief, regarding the state's National Guard. It is a detailed summation of military affairs in New Jersey, and one of a series of such reports issued throughout the years. The author discusses in-depth the state's inventory of arms and equipment, including rifles, and artillery. The report also covers appropriations by the state legislature, amounts paid for the militia, and a detailed breakdown of ordnance. Of interest is a section on war claims, where the author documents his efforts to secure compensation from the federal government for arms and equipments furnished by the state to the Union Army during the Civil War. In sum, this report provides a thorough record of New Jersey's military capabilities and expenditures in the mid-19th century, and sheds light on the state's role in the national defense during the Civil War era. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
