Item description from seller

See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1849 publication bound in cloth with leather labels to spine. Boards are soiled and darkened and leather labels on spine are brittle and cracked and chipped. Spot on top label goes all the way through the cloth. Bottom page edge has stain which is limited to the exterior edge. Interior binding is good - no hinge issues and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Pages are mildly toned due to age and scattered foxing/spotting is present as well as soiling. Rear pastedown has stain and top of pages have a light dampstain. Only handwriting found in the book was on page 21 where a single sentence referencing another case was written in red just above the title. Note: this is the original publication from the 1800s and not a modern reprint. This is volume 4 only as each volume was published in a different year. Title page states second edition.
