Print on Demand. This book is an intimate, revealing account of a brother's life. The author, while acknowledging the challenges of writing from such closeness, finds encouragement from an esteemed friend's urging to provide an account of his brother's early life, education, and professional endeavors. The author intends to provide a narrative comprised of personal letters, anecdotes, and recollections. She acknowledges the gaps in her memory and draws upon her brother's own writings to fill in the gaps and give insight into a multifaceted and complex person. The book's intent is to present a very human portrait of an exceptional brother, capturing his thoughtfulness, kindness, and struggles with sensibility and ill health. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
