First English-language edition--stated first printing; tr. from French to English by Cornelia Higginson; pref. by Marcel Pagnol; 221 p., clean and unmarked anywhere; many wonderful period photos of M. Chevalier with celebrities ranging from Presidents Truman and Eisenhower, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and other political figures to Diahann Carroll, Audrey Hepburn, Barbra Steisand, and other entertainers. Perhaps the most charming is his presentation of his signature straw boater hat to Duke Ellington on the occasion of the birthday celebration in Paris honoring the "Jazz King."Binding firm; unfaded blue boards with still bright lettering, including holograph of author's signature are very fine, the photographic d.j. has suffered a little edge wear while protecting the volume beneath.
