Print on Demand. In this eye-opening book, 19th-century homeopathy physician Robert Wesselhoeft responds to prominent medical figure Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes's attack on homeopathy in his 1842 lecture. Wesselhoeft meticulously examines Holmes's claims, including those on the ineffectiveness of diluted remedies, the irrelevance of the healing power of nature, and the absence of scientific basis in homeopathy. Providing evidence and historical perspective, Wesselhoeft not only refutes these claims but also reveals the deeper theoretical and philosophical differences between homeopathy and allopathy, setting the record straight and shedding light on the complex history of medical science. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

Your highly esteemed favor of the l6th inst,i received with mingled emotions. Ihad already perused Dr, Holmes's lectures on Homeopathy and its kindred delusions, and I think his bookseller may thank me for the sale of perhaps twenty copies of the work. Ihave recommended it heartily to every one, without either comment or censure. The effect produced by.it on some was to make them doubt, others felt contempt for it, and two or three enjoyed in it' beforehand an excellent polemic discussion. It was not my intention to check by a word or a fact the favorable im pressions which Dr. Holmes has made by his ingenuity and his learning.
