Item description from seller

Large 4to. 28 x 18 cm. Rebound in modern brown cloth boards. Bordered gilt stamp on black Moroccan leather affixed to spine containing title, author and date. Tight binding and solid boards. A 108 page portion from the original leaves is missing towards the back of volume. Moderate wear to pages. Discoloration throughout. Slight chipping to title page, especially in the top segment. Minor page-wrinkling towards the beginning. Damp stains throughout. Owner's inscription on top of title page of one, Joseph Baker. Printed during the Reign of Charles the 2nd, this volume provides historical background on the English Civil War. This major work was an intervention in a religious controversy, undertaken in defense of Christopher Potter, Provost of The Queen's College, Oxford, against the Jesuit Edward Knott. Overall, a beautifully rebound, superior copy in excellent condition considering age.
