Full calf, a little bumped to corners and rubbed to faces, with small blemishes and large black stains to the lower board of v.1 and the upper board of v.2. Spines in six panels with gilt decoration and volume numbers; black text boxes to second panel. Bindings strong.Light foxing as expected to endpapers, prelims and elsewhere. Frontispiece engravings. 350, [6]; 421, [8] pp., contents clean. Some dust-staining to edges of the text block. Christoph Christian Sturm (1740 1786) was a German preacher and author, best known for his Reflections on the Works of God in Nature. He left Halle in 1769, to become second pastor of the church of the Holy Spirit (Heilige-Geist-Kirche) at Magdeburg, where he passed the happiest part of his professional life, and where he wrote most of his devotional works. Sturm's works have been translated into numerous different languages and are still in use today.
