The enemy has already breached the wire. Now, Australia's most elite black-ops unit must fight a war in the shadows-or lose everything.
A critical undersea data cable is cut off the coast of Darwin, triggering a national security emergency. Talon Unit is deployed to investigate-but what begins as sabotage spirals into a high-stakes game of espionage, betrayal, and digital warfare. Someone is siphoning AUKUS intelligence. Commander Nate Harwood leads his team into Southeast Asia, where cyberattacks, bioweapons, and mercenary forces converge. From Jakarta's criminal underworld to the jungle strongholds of a human trafficking empire, Talon must chase ghosts and decode a conspiracy that threatens to dismantle allied defences from the inside out.
But trust is in short supply. Old wounds between tech genius Kieran "Torque" Knox and MI6 liaison Declan "Wraith" Maddox flare under pressure. Sniper Tony Rinoldi is haunted by a past operation gone sideways. And as the noose tightens, the unit faces a chilling truth: the real traitor may already be among them.

bout the Author
MJ Hawke is the pen name of Matthew Hull, an Australian author of gritty, high-stakes military thrillers that blend raw realism with pulse-pounding action. Drawing on a deep interest in global conflict, covert operations, and human resilience under pressure, Hawke crafts stories that take readers behind enemy lines and into the minds of elite operatives facing impossible odds.
With a passion for exploring the moral complexity of modern warfare, MJ Hawke's writing is known for its sharp detail, authentic tactics, and emotionally grounded characters. His debut novel, Operation Dark Hour, launches the Talon Unit series-a hard-hitting saga following Australia's most secretive special forces unit during the chaos of the 2021 Kabul withdrawal.
When not writing, Hawke is a keen researcher of military history and strategy, and enjoys exploring the intersection between loyalty, betrayal, and the human cost of conflict.
