Item description from seller

Red cloth hardcover with black titles and decorative spine details; stated First Edition on the copyright page, with the Doubleday emblem of a sailing ship and colonial figures on the title page. The binding shows minor fraying along the lower edges and light wear at the upper corners and spine ends. The front endpapers bear a "Consolidated Libraries" stamp and a few pencil notations, suggesting possible use in a private or circulating library, though there is no pocket or extensive institutional marking. The paper is evenly toned with age, and a few pages show light handling or thumb marks, but the book remains complete, sound, firmly readable, and quite presentable for a 1936 volume. No dust jacket. Red War is an unusual pre-World War II political and espionage thriller by Judson P. Philips and Thomas M. Johnson, imagining international conspiracy, revolutionary violence, secret-police power, dictatorship, and the approach of global conflict only a few years before such fears became reality. Its blend of speculative war fiction, political suspense, and 1930s anxiety gives the novel added historical interest for readers examining how popular literature anticipated the coming world crisis. An appealing first edition for collectors of vintage thrillers, espionage fiction, political novels, future-war stories, Doubleday publications, or early works by Judson P. Philips, who later became widely known under the name Hugh Pentecost. A fascinating look back from the twenty-first century at themes of authoritarianism, propaganda, revolution, and international instability that still feel strikingly relevant. It would make a thoughtful and distinctive gift for a collector, history-minded reader, mystery enthusiast-or for yourself. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. Thank you.…
