Print on Demand. Delving into the history of the Church of Ireland from the 17th century onwards, this book recollects the lives of Irish clergymen past, the trials and tribulations faced by the Church, and the changing socio-political backdrop against which these men of faith persevered. These clergy were often Celtic scholars, tasked with bridging the gap between the English and Irish, working in parishes ravaged by famine and violence. Their untiring efforts to unite communities at a time of great upheaval give insight into the character of the Irish church as a whole. The book discusses the stereotypes and misconceptions often attached to the Church of Ireland over the years, painting a more complex and nuanced picture of its history and impact on Irish society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

- Biography and Autobiography
Travellers in Africa tell us that when through design or accident, one of the large ant nests which are found on the banks of the Senegal River is destroyed, the animals immediately commence to construct another on the same spot, and such is their spirit of industry, that in a brief time the bill, which had been once their habitation, is almost reproduced, and at once occupied again by the little architects as their home.
