This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Mathematical modeling is the process of translating between the real world and mathematics in both directions and is one of the topics in mathematics that has been discussed and propagated most intensely during the last few decades. However, in real life situations, modeling still has a far less prominent role than is desirable. The general belief among researchers is that modelling activities presuppose conceptual understanding of the mathematics involved. Mathematical modelling, however, can be seen as a practice of teaching that place the relation between real life and mathematics into the centre of teaching and learning mathematics.
