For most people eyeing a career in real estate, the real estate exam necessary for getting a license is a hurdle difficult to cross. Truth be told, however, the bigger obstacle comes with the realization that good money does not come during the first few months of doing real estate business. Most newbies almost always quit upon encountering disappointments early in their careers. This book will give you tips that will tide you over during your first few months in the business. It will also give you ideas on how to stay competitive among other real estate professionals who are just as aggressive and ambitious. You will likewise get acquainted with the qualities and skills that prospective clients value in a real estate agent. There are even life hacks on how to make to your presence felt in the industry. Working as a real estate professional can be fun and exciting. The first two years may be one bumpy ride. But after that, it should be smooth sailing towards becoming a successful real estate professional.
Realtor and real estate agent are titles usually used interchangeably. But there’s a difference between the two. The word realtor is a trademark affixed to members of the National Association of Realtors (NRA). Not all real estate agents are realtors. And the job description of a realtor is not confined to just buying and selling real estate. A realtor can also be a managing broker, an appraiser, a property manager, or an exclusive buyer’s agent. Also, realtors have to subscribe to the 17 articles of the Realtor Code of Ethics.
But everybody in the real estate industry gets their start with being a real estate agent. There are many players in this business, but the workhorses of any typical real estate transaction are the real estate agents. They’re the ones who coordinate the entire buying and selling process.
A real estate agent is someone similar to an orchestra conductor. He coordinates all the players towards the successful realization of a transaction. At different phases of the entire process, he wears different hats—a salesperson, an analyst, a consultant, a negotiator, and a marketer.
