For Reals! Observations by a Brown Guy is a collection of short stories and essays by Gil Polanco, retired Navy man, invigilator, lazy drummer, and drunken philosopher who likes to hold a mirror up to those who would hold up a mirror to others. This book deals with misconceptions and hopefully encourages others to think critically about ice cream as a civil right. There are a couple of true, harrowing tales dealing with child protection in Minnesota and stupid racists in Seattle. You will experience a Mexican-American kid's day at a "typical" Anglo-American house in the mid-1960's. You will meet the members of the Squatting Rabbit Clan from prehistory. You will also learn what Aristotle thought about pizza in ancient Greece. This is the stuff that stuff is made of!
About the Author: Gil Polanco lives in San Antonio, Texas with the mother of his children, a dog, a turtle, and a cat. He served 20 years in the Navy and worked as a test administrator at Palo Alto College. He is a drummer and performs on seven records that were bought by about two dozen people. He is a big fan of History because real events are often more crazy than fiction.
