What happens when the sacred duty to care for the dead is twisted into a grotesque enterprise of greed?David Sconce, a Pasadena mortician, turned his family's trusted Lamb Funeral Home into a factory of desecration-a scandal inspiring an HBO documentary. Once a pillar of solace in idyllic Pasadena, the Lamb Funeral Home, under Sconce's dark ambition, became a hub for horrifying deeds. "The Real Mortician" meticulously charts Sconce's descent, from exploiting industry changes to orchestrating the "two-kiln charade" of mass cremations, the grisly "popping chops" theft of dental gold, and the illicit trafficking of human organs via forged consent. The unraveling, sparked by whistleblowers, led to legal battles and media exposure, revealing Sconce's remorseless view of the dead as mere "shells." This book explores the full scope of his crimes, his disturbing psyche, the victims' ordeals, and the scandal's enduring, chilling legacy on the funeral industry. Here's what you'll uncover in "The Real Mortician" Trusted funeral home's descent into an industrial house of horrors.Goes deeper than the HBO documentary: Sconce's crimes, motives, and impact.Systematic desecration: mass cremations, gold theft, organ trafficking.Sconce's inner circle: employee fear, enablers, and family questions.Victim testimonies and whistleblower courage.Sconce's remorseless mind and legal battles. The scandal's lasting impact and industry reckoning. Is this book sensationalized?
