A rare and highly decorative late 19th century set of portable Masonic Tracing Boards issued by Brother George Kenning of Little Britain, London, one of the best-known Masonic publishers and regalia manufacturers of the Victorian period. This attractive folding triptych comprises the Three Degrees of Craft Masonry: Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, Master Mason . Printed in colour and mounted on linen, the boards fold neatly together in portable form. The set retains strong, vivid colours and displays beautifully. Each board bears the imprint of Bro. George Kenning, Little Britain, London, allowing the set to be dated prior to the company name change to "George Kenning & Sons" circa 1895. The imagery includes classic English Masonic symbolism: Jacob's Ladder, the twin pillars, mosaic pavement, celestial bodies, Temple interior scenes, coffin emblems, skull and crossbones, acacia, and other traditional emblems associated with the Craft degrees. Condition is very good for the period: clean and well preserved overall, with light age toning and minor wear consistent with use. One small area of black border smudging to the third board noted, likely from the original printing or hand-finishing process. Linen backing remains sound and flexible. Each board is 24.5 x 15cm. The fold out complete is 24 x 47cm. A scarce surviving Victorian lodge or travelling example, increasingly difficult to find complete.
