1. Rough Collies range in size from medium to large, yet regardless of size, they always seem elegant and proportionate. The outside coat is long and flowing, while the undercoat is deep and fluffy. Their fur is commonly sable and white, but they can also come in different hues including tri-color (black, white, and tan) and blue merle.
2. Rough Collies have an approachable, bright, and loyal temperament. They are wonderful family dogs and are usually patient with kids. Additionally, they are highly receptive to training and make superb obedience and agility canines.
3. Collies were originally developed to herd animals, so they naturally possess a robust herding instinct. They are naturally adept at herding due to their ability to command and direct the behavior of livestock.
4. During the middle of the 20th century, the Rough Collie breed skyrocketed in popularity because to a fictional Collie named Lassie who starred in a number of films and television shows. In popular culture, Lassie came to represent the ideals of devotion and bravery.
5. In order to keep the Rough Collie's long coat in good shape and free of mats, regular grooming is required. They also tend to shed, which is especially noticeable when the seasons change.
In conclusion, the Rough Collie is a dog breed revered for its aesthetic qualities, mental prowess, and mild demeanor. They have a long history of herding, and the fictitious character Lassie has helped them gain cultural prominence. With the right amount of love and attention, these dogs may be wonderful family pets.
