Paperback. This slim, full color volume of 38 of poems illustrated by 35 paintings and 3 drawings is a strikingly original work created by a single artist. Each image was chosen from hundreds of paintings and drawings done over a span of 8 years and the associated poetry pulled from over a thousand works done in a similar time frame. Every page pairs a poem with an image, forming a specific and individual interpretation, each vivid and unexpected. The connections are often disconcerting as well as delightful, betraying a wry humor and satirical insight. Together they form a rich retrospective of human meaning and a profound synthesis of experience. This unique amalgamation of paintings, drawings and poetry by Tomas Patrick Quigley openly invites readers to reflect and explore their own personal interpretations of this juxtaposition of the visual with the lyrical. " Placing powerful objects in unexpected contexts, Massachusetts-based Mr. Quigley reveals a surrealist flare. Yet his art defies categorization: the rich, strong coloring of his canvases reflects an influence from the raw, color-driven Fauvists such as Henri Matisse and Andre Derain. Mr. Quigley's art demands careful observation, reflection, and analysis, leaving us with works which continually provide inspiration for profound rumination." - Ruthie Tucker, Executive Director & Curator Amsterdam Whitney Gallery, Chelsea NY This item is printed on demand.
