Jake Shepherd was not interested in a birth parent search. When his associate, Scarlett Kavanagh, accepts the case, her investigation produces a trail of long buried lies, deception, fraud, and murder, which draws Jake in.In pursuit of answers, the couple travels to South Carolina to interview witnesses, but when an incident occurs, threatening Scarlett's life, Jake calls for backup, bringing retired FBI agent Pete Cooper to Charleston, along with Jake's arms-sniffing K-9.
