Hardcover. This book challenges everything you think you know about designing schools.Every school begins with a vision. Too often, that vision fades the moment construction starts. In Radically Student Centered(TM), Kevin Stoller exposes why so many well-intentioned school projects fall short and offers a clear alternative. Drawing from decades of experience transforming learning environments, he presents a systems-based framework that aligns vision, design, budget, and implementation around one central focus--students.Rather than treating architecture, furniture, pedagogy, and procurement as isolated decisions, this book shows how integrating them from the start leads to spaces that truly support teaching and learning. It challenges the fragmented spec-and-bid model and calls leaders to select the right partner before selecting products.Schools are built once every thirty to fifty years. These projects are generational opportunities. When communities collaborate early and implement with intention, they create environments that do more than house learning--they elevate it. This book challenges everything you think you know about designing schools.
Every school begins with a vision. Too often, that vision fades the moment construction starts.
In Radically Student Centered™, Kevin Stoller exposes why so many well-intentioned school projects fall short and offers a clear alternative. Drawing from decades of experience transforming learning environments, he presents a systems-based framework that aligns vision, design, budget, and implementation around one central focus—students.
Rather than treating architecture, furniture, pedagogy, and procurement as isolated decisions, this book shows how integrating them from the start leads to spaces that truly support teaching and learning. It challenges the fragmented spec-and-bid model and calls leaders to select the right partner before selecting products.
Schools are built once every thirty to fifty years. These projects are generational opportunities. When communities collaborate early and implement with intention, they create environments that do more than house learning—they elevate it.

About the Author
KEVIN STOLLER is the founder and CEO of Kay-Twelve, a national Learning Space Integrator dedicated to transforming school environments through a radically student-centered approach. Over the past two decades, he has partnered with school districts, architects, and education leaders across the country to align vision, design, and implementation around what matters most—students.
He is also the host of The Better Learning Podcast, where he interviews innovative leaders in education, design, and business to explore how systems, spaces, and culture shape learning outcomes.
Through his writing, speaking, and advisory work, Kevin helps communities maximize once-in-a-generation opportunities to build or modernize schools. His mission is clear: to ensure that every learning environment is intentionally designed to elevate students, support educators, and strengthen the future of education.
