We all have rugs. Outdated habits trip us up. Silent expectations catch us off guard. Limiting beliefs go unquestioned for years. These hidden barriers sabotage our progress in life and leadership until disruption finally forces us to confront them.
RUG: How to Move What You Are Tripping Over and Lead with H.E.A.R.T. reveals how to uncover the patterns holding you back. You'll discover how to move beyond mere survival and lead with clarity, courage, and purpose.
This book centers around the H.E.A.R.T. Powered Leadership™ framework: Humanize, Empower, Ascend, Reimagine, Transform. It offers both deeply personal insights and practical guidance for leading with empathy, resilience, and vision.
Sherry Whitaker Budziak and Kevin G. Ordoñez have co-authored this blend of lived experience and actionable insight. Every chapter includes real-world stories, reflective prompts, practical exercises, and micro-moves you can implement immediately. Read it cover to cover or return to specific chapters whenever you need wisdom or fresh perspective.
In these pages, you'll learn how to:
- Humanize people and yourself by seeing the person behind the screen, the data, and the role while giving yourself the same compassion you extend to others.
- Empower others through trust that sparks creativity and courage.
- Ascend into your full potential and rise above fear, even when uncertainty clouds the path ahead.
- Reimagine outdated systems and assumptions that no longer serve you.
- Transform yourself and your organization into something stronger.
RUG will forever change how you view leadership, disruption, and yourself. Whether you want to advance your career, inspire your team, spark innovation, strengthen resilience, take bold risks, or simply lead with greater clarity and courage, this book provides the mindset and tools to unlock your full potential.
