Item description from seller

Volume II only. Full title - REPORTS OF CASES ARGUED AND DETERMINED IN THE COURTS OF COMMON PLEAS, AND EXCHEQUER CHAMBER, AND IN THE HOUSE OF LORDS: FROM MICHAELMAS TERM 40 GEO. III 1799, TO MICHAELMAS TERM 42 GEO. III 1801, BOTH INCLUSIVE. WITH TABLES OF THE CASES AND PRINCIPAL MATTERS. . . VOL. II. i-viii, 1-613, [1], [1-35] pages. Hardcover: H 22cm x L 13.5cm. Contemporary full leather; deep chipping to spine head with shallow wear to heel; spine's extant leather has darkened alligatored surface with same effect occurring at board margins (more so to rear board than front); spine's title label has slight edge-wear and some dulling to gilt lettering; past owner's name "Ellison" in somewhat faded ink near top of front board; slight splitting at upper portion of rear joint but still reasonably firm. Toning/foxing to interior leaves; ink signature "J. Ellison" on front pastedown (easily attributed to Centreville, Bibb County, Alabama attorney John Tullis Ellison, 1865-1947, as book was acquired from estate of daughter Rhoda Coleman Ellison, 1904-2005 who was a noted academic and author); ink signature "Zech. Eddy" on front flyleaf (similar to signature of Middleborough, Massachusetts attorney Zechariah Eddy, 1780-1860, who has correspondence manuscripts held by Amherst College). Text block is firm.
