Encadernação da época inteira de pele com nervos, um rótulo vermelho e ferros a ouro em casas fechadas na lombada. Corte das folhas mosqueado a vermelho. Folha de rosto a vermelho e preto com um florão decorativo. Impressão em caracteres redondos e alguns itálicos ornamentada com cabeção ornamentada na página 1 e um belo florão de remate no fim da obra. Apresenta texto disposto em duas colunas com excepção das páginas preliminares. Exemplar com etiqueta com cota de biblioteca à cabeça da lombada, danos superficiais de pele na pasta posterior e nos cantos. Com furo de traça no pé das charneiras e no verso das pastas, manchas de humidade no verso das pastas que atingem ligeiramente as folhas preliminares e finais, notas coevas no verso da pasta anterior e falta da primeira folha provavelmente de guarda com sinais de ter sido arrancada. Pormenorizado índice temático da mais importante obra sobre o exercício das funções de Juiz dos Órfãos, que foi publicada durante o antigo regime. Da autoria de Diogo Guerreiro Camacho de Aboim é composta por quatro tratados e foi publicada pela primeira vez em seis volumes entre 1699 e 1734. Os Juízes dos Órfãos tinham grande importância devido à curta expectativa de vida da época, acentuada pelas mortes em combate e em naufrágios em todos os vastos territórios do Império Português. As Ordenações Manuelinas, dadas em 1514, preveem (Livro I, Título 57), a existência de um juiz dos órfãos em todas as vilas e lugares que, com os respectivos termos, tivessem mais de quatrocentos vizinhos. Esses juízes mandariam, imediatamente, redigir o inventário de todos os bens dos órfãos, que iria sendo actualizado, quanto à receita e despesa, pelo escrivão dos órfãos. As Ordenações Filipinas, Livro I, Título 88, § 31, confirmam a existência de um juiz dos órfãos nas vilas e lugares com mais de quatrocentos vizinhos. Competia ao juiz dos órfãos mandar proceder rapidamente à elaboração do inventário de todos os bens dos órfãos e ao depósito integral de todas as quantias pertencentes a estes numa arca, especialmente construída para o efeito, da qual seria depositário uma pessoa abonada da respectiva vila ou lugar. Para além do dinheiro, seriam também guardados na arca 'dois livros, um para receita, outro para despesa do dinheiro que se houver de meter e tirar dela'. Esses livros seriam assinados pelo provedor da comarca e só poderiam ser tirados da arca quando fosse necessário escrever neles. Nas páginas preliminares contêm uma poesia epigráfica do autor em que dedica a obra a Nossa Senhora, uma advertência do autor; índice das entradas temáticas que está dividido o reportório; licenças do Santo Officio, do Ordinario e do Desembargo do Paço, aprovados por Fr. Urbano de Santo António, Mauro Eduardo da Silva e Doutor Joaquim de Oliva Brandão, respectivamente. Nas últimas páginas sem numeração inclui um protesto do autor e uma página em branco. António Moreira Pegas (Miranda, ?- ?) Conhecem-se poucos dados biográficos do autor pois já não é registado por Barbosa Machado, Tornou-se Familiar do Santo Ofício desde 15 de Março de 1746, foi Advogado da Casa da Suplicação e em 1778 passou a servir como advogado no Desembargo do Paço. Diogo Guerreiro Camacho de Aboim (Gomes Aires, 1658 - Lisboa, 1709), formado em Direito Civil na Universidade de Coimbra. Desempenhou várias funções de magistratura, tendo no auge da sua carreira ocupado o cargo de Desembargador da Casa da Suplicação. Escreveu várias.…

Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Livraria Castro e Silva, Lisboa, Portugal, +351 213467380, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
