Early printing (no edition/printing statement provided as typical for Grosset; dj rear panel lists the six prior books in the Red Randall series with no mention of the concluding two). [8], 212, [2] pages. Hardcover: H 19.25cm x L 13.25cm. Dust jacket with color pictorial front panel; long closed tears at front panel's lower left and right; small chips and short tears at edges; mild soiling to white rear panel; front flap is not clipped; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Green boards; black lettering to spine and front board; spine head scuffed. Black top edge; toning to fore-edge and bottom edge; toning to leaves as is prevalent with juvenile books produced during wartime rationing. Binding remains fairly crisp.
