Item description from seller

First British edition. 102, [1, ad], [1, blank] pp. Bound in publisher's black wraps lettered in red. Very Good+ with sunning to wraps along spine, worn foot. English socialist author Maurice Reckitt's copy with his bookplate facing title page. This famous sci-fi play is the origin of the English word "robot," borrowed from the Czech word "robota," for forced labor. It was translated for the British stage and censored for that country as well but premiered in America first in October 1922. The translator would go onto write a novel about the difficulties of staging this play in 1926 One, Two, Three.
