Qur’anic Arabic – Volume 1
Qur’anic Arabic is a progressive Arabic course designed to help students learn Arabic with a clear and meaningful goal: understanding the Qur’an in its original language.
Created for both teachers and independent learners, this book combines a detailed study of Qur’anic grammar with practical training in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. From the very first lessons, students learn through verses and extracts from the Qur’an, carefully selected to remain accessible and understandable throughout the book. At no stage are learners asked to memorize texts without comprehension.
As the course progresses, students expand their vocabulary, explore key Qur’anic roots, and begin speaking about the Qur’an in Arabic. The dialogues, texts, and activities also introduce learners to the major themes of the Qur’anic message, helping them connect language study with deeper understanding of the sacred text.
This book includes:
- 10 learning units
- 2 review units
- 3 exams
- 60 lessons in total
- a program equivalent to two years of study
- a structure suited to weekly classes of 1.5 to 2 hours, supported by regular independent practice
Each unit contains five lessons and develops the four core language skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. The step-by-step approach takes learners from reading individual words to understanding Qur’anic sentences, then longer passages, and eventually full verses and surahs.
Originally designed for teenagers and adults, much of the material can also be adapted for younger learners. The book is intended for students who already know the Arabic alphabet. A version for non-literate beginners is available free of charge on the Imtiyaz Institute website.

The translations in this book are deliberately literal, sometimes prioritizing precision over elegance in order to support learning more effectively. At the end of each unit, memory aids summarize essential grammar points and key expressions to memorize.
